ODIM ACTF: Advanced Coiled Tubing Tension Frames

The ACTFs offers safe and reliable injector handling during coiled tubing (CT) operations on floaters. Traditional tension frames do not meet today’s requirements to personnel safety, as they require personnel working underneath hanging load (CT injector), and manual guiding of injector while stabbing tubing/BHA and latching on.

By using the JMCT ACTF concept, the risky situations are avoided, as the CT injector is resting on a secured platform all the time, and the need for lifting down CT injector between CT runs is eliminated. This also makes the operation less weather dependent and more efficient, as it eliminates the problems of stabbing under rough conditions.

Our customers have experienced that the ACTF has paid back the costs on the first job!

The frame will normally be delivered according to customer’s specifications with respect to maximum length, window height, surface tree interface, tiltable bottom beam, top drive interface, and tension capacity. Frames are normally equipped with three winches: one for injector handling, one for tool handling and one for stabbing tubing. Radio control of the hydraulic functions is normally used. Plain hydraulic control is also an option.

Key benefits:
• Hydraulic operated injector spears for tilting of injector during stabbing
• Modular top platform for access during make-up of BHAs
• Side skidding to allow installation of BHAs in well
• Radio controlled operation of hydraulic functions
• Hydraulic gate in bottom beam to allow installation of surface tree
• Alternative injector service platform
• BOP platform for access during make-up of BHAs
