HOSE-HANDLING WITHOUT PUTTING PEOPLE AT RISK

The first four vessels to use ODIM’s automated system designed to transfer bulk cargo between platforms and ships are currently being delivered by the shipyards. The ODIM ABCS™ system will shortly be installed onboard the StatoilHydro-operated platform Oseberg A in the Norwegian sector and at the offshore base at Mongstad north of Bergen.

NEW MANIPULATOR ARM PROTECTS CREW FROM HAZARDOUS MANOEUVRES

The new hydraulic manipulator arms with force feedback function as extensions of the operator’s own arms. They can lift, grip, turn and rotate a number of different components while at the same time the operator can easily feel the forces in play through the sensitive control system.

ODIM JMC’s business focus is to develop technical products and services to support oil and service companies as they strive for safer and more efficient solutions. Integrated with the ODIM group, the company will have focus on the Drilling & Well Service segment and the Subsea & Deepwater Installation segment.

DEEPWATER TECHNOLOGY BREAKTHROUGH

In early august 2007 ODIM secured a contract from Aker Oilfield Services to deliver a 125tonne ODIM CTCU™ system. This is part of a joint industry project (JIP) supported by Norway’s Demo 2000 research programme. This contract also opened the way for a contract in November 2007 with Aker Oilfield Services for delivery of a tower and module handling system for deepwater installation.
